I love this track
Favorite track: Murderous Operandi (feat. Jørgen Munkeby).
RITUAL are a North Hertfordshire metal band with a difference. They strive to entertain and produce quality music.
Their latest offering ENIGMA continues to impress. Five tracks with varying genres, supported by a fine array of guest artists.
The underlying theme of ENIGMA comes from Greek mythology and a descent into hell.
Seven Gates is a Tour de Force.
Murderous Operandi and Walk Of Shame have jazz infused elements.
RITUAL have continued to experiment musically and have TRIUMPHED with ENIGMA.
Favorite track: Seven Gates (feat. Dianne van Giersbergen).
Lyrics:
As above, so below,
Easy come, easy go,
As above so below,
Just like the river,
We'll ebb with the flow.
Easy come, easy go,
As above, so below.
Lyrics:
Sins of the father
Are answered for by his sons,
Is it just karma that
Our martyr is forbidden?
Creon, Creon
You cannot win
One thing is certain
I will never give in
Brazen fiend
You dare to label me?
Oh you will beg!
For I am Antigone
Emperor you reap
The spoils of war
Flexing your muscles
You wield a royal sword
Heroes be heathens
In a bastion of thieves
Creon, Creon
You care not for Thebes!
We are pure, we are strong
We are brave and we will fight!
Creon, Creon
Its a means to an end
Unwept, unwedded
Still my steel will not bend
He might be blind
But his sight won’t be deprived
Tiresias, in a flash
Perceived my wrath
Heed the words
Of this wise soothsayer
Cuz I’ve got bones to pick
With my creator
Heads will roll
For the prodigal one
Creon, Creon
He will not be shunned
The tension is rising
No sense in denying
You’re feeling the heat
Look deep in my eyes
And then be hypnotized
Suicide is not defeat
If I could go back
And change everything
You would perform burial hymns
Scattering ash flake by flake
Anathemas on Seven Gates
Woe betide those vile fools
Who decry and fight my rule
Hear my howls Polynices
Tear them down onto their knees
Power feeds a cowards greed
This is the beginning of the end!
Lyrics:
Tick, tock
Flick the wrists on the clock
It’s a lot to get your head wrapped around
It might seem early
But it’s almost seven thirty
And perversely there’s a mercy
For the worst fiend in town
Good looking and so refined
Take another step closer
Read between the lines
I’m the most cold hearted son of a bitch
Crank Old Sparky up to full voltage
Treat em mean, to keep me keen
And coming back for more
Gluttons for a punishment
That twists em in my wicked thrall!
Mirror, mirror on the wall
Whose the baddest mother fucker
And most brutal?
Oh beautiful, dutiful lamb
I’m a man with grand plans
Come and give me a hand
Predators might hide in plain sight
Despite what's seen on the silver screen
Your sons and your daughters
Walk towards the slaughter
And falter by my guillotine
Treat em mean, to keep me keen
And coming back for more
Gluttons for a punishment
That twists em in my wicked thrall!
What was I thinking?
Tell me, what have I done?
Will someone kindly explain
What’s going on?
I’ve begged forgiveness
For so many long years
The words lamented
Just fell upon deaf ears
We all make mistakes
But by now I should know
Those in glasses houses
They should never throw stones
You think it’s over
But it hasn’t even begun
Won’t know what’s hit you
Till your time has finally come
I’m gonna tear you limb from limb
I am the wolf outside your door
Why don’t you just let me in?
Lyrics:
In the beginning was the word
And that word was lie
This holy book is filled with holes
But where’s the surprise?
Mere superstition’s
A fiction in disguise
Gavaged to minds
Savaged by design
These are the seven deadliest sins
Promising, with grins,
That prayer is medicine
These are the seven deadliest sins
An early graves the place
Where you’re heading
Pandemonium
Violent beasts
Defiling sheep with spite
Whiling, beguiling
All the while sweeping out the light
Empires that preach leach upon
Dwindling wealth
Kindled in stealth
To swindle your health
These are the seven deadliest sins
Promising, with grins,
That prayer is medicine
These are the seven deadliest sins
An early graves the place
Where you’re heading
Pandemonium
If you’re the kind of person
Who knows their right from wrong
Stand up be counted and
Don’t ever bite your tongue
They can’t deny you
Nor deprive you of the truth
It’s high time the chickens
Come home to roost
There’s no happy ever after
Only pain and insane laughter
If you think it holds the answers
You are strolling toward disaster
We’re told to praise padres
For every waking hour
So they can count the filthy riches
That they’ve devoured
In temples carved and trimmed with purest gold
We live in squalor cuz of dollar those collars stole!
If you’re the kind of person
Who knows their right from wrong
Stand up be counted and
Don’t ever bite your tongue
They can’t deny you
Nor deprive you of the truth
It’s high time the chickens
Come home to roost
There’s no happy ever after
Only pain and insane laughter
If you think it holds the answers
You are strolling toward disaster fast!
Lyrics:
Good evening
And welcome to hell
Brought to you by
The sweet, sensual vibes of Ritual
I sure hope you enjoyed
The descent down here
Cuz tonight baby
Your ass is mine!
You have only got yourself to blame
You've only got your goddamn self to blame.
You have only got yourself to blame
And now it's time to do the walk of shame
You have only got yourself to blame
about
Formed in early 2017, Ritual are a four piece hard rock/metal band from leafy Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom. Our sound is a thunderous blend of groove laden riffs, pummeling percussion, funk infused bass lines and howling vocals. Influenced by a diverse range of artists and musical styles, we write heavy songs with a strong melodic sensibility.
Enigma began life prior to the pandemic. As a result of the national lockdowns and the imposing restrictions, we were unable to release it in the manner we originally intended. Instead, we decided to spend time refining what we had and embellishing the songs with guest appearances. Enigma features the mercurial talents of the iconic Anneke van Giersbergen, dramatic soprano Dianne van Giersbergen, black jazz guru Jørgen Munkeby, jazz harpist Amanda Whiting as well as prog maestro, Devin Townsend. We are very proud of what we’ve accomplished with this project and delighted to finally share what we’ve created.
Ritual would like to thank the following for their help in making Enigma: Matty Moon, Maor Appelbaum, Anneke van Giersbergen (appearing courtesy of InsideOut Music), Dianne van Giersbergen, Jørgen Munkeby, Amanda Whiting, Devin Townsend, Caz Khan, Steve Wallace, Jack Cowley, Hayley Lewin, Elizabeth Parker, Anna Turpin, Fabienne Plangger, Zak Simmons-Hurn, Joost van den Broek, Joost van de Pas, Grizz Saul, Bob Marden and everyone at Club 85, Chris and everyone at the Practice Roomz, Shaun and Loki Films, Dan at DC Sound Attack as well as our friends in Countless Skies, The Grey, Dorylus, Denali, Elysian Divide, Gévaudan, The Best Medicine, Spectral Darkwave and Earthbound.
